And we're off!

Most of you reading this know that we recently made a big decision in our lives - we sold our house, bought a 5th wheel trailer and new (bigger) truck, put everything in storage, and hit the road.  We plan to spend some time (maybe a year?) traveling the country.

Here's our new "home" - a 35 foot Grand Design Reflection 337RLS.  He/she needs a name!

And our things in storage.

It really is more organized than it looks!

Since our house was set to close on March 14th, we decided to wrap it up early and head out on the 12th.  We were all signed and ready to close but we originally thought we would be signing on the 14th and unable to leave until the 15th.  So, we headed south to our friends' (D&P) house in Olympia for a chance to practice our (okay, Ron's) towing ability and spend some time relaxing after weeks of moving things into storage.

Our campsite was perfect!

[Disclaimer]: we decided to have a few more nights inside with a plumbed toilet and a nice, hot shower so we didn't actually stay in the trailer.

We had a wonderful and relaxing time but we were anxious to start our adventure.  So on the 14th we said our "thanks and see you in the morning" and went to bed.  Follow along to see our adventures and read what we learn along the way.

If you want to follow by e-mail, you can sign up on the right side of the page.  I'll be sending out e-mails when I post something new but in case I forget, this will ensure you receive all of the posts - I'm sure you don't want to miss a word!

  1. Where are you now? It doesn't look like you're back in Washington so I guess things are going ok so far. LOL. Looking forward to the updates.

  2. Your storage unit reminds me of our U-Haul truck when we moved here in 1976. The last thing that went in was the dish drainer - we just threw it in on top.

    1. I just had a memory of moving from California to Washington in 1980. The truck was packed but we needed the crib for the 2 year old to sleep in. Woke her up in the morning, dismantled the crib, and shoved it in holding it while the door closed.
