Phoenix/Chandler, Arizona

When we first started planning this adventure we knew we wanted to get to the Phoenix Valley early on and since our granddaughter was planning to be there to visit her boyfriend, we had a goal.  We thought we'd stay a week or so and since it was peak season (and, ultimately, spring training), we had a little trouble finding a spot.  We finally secured a reservation for a park but it was nagging at me that it wasn't the ultimate spot.  But here we were.

It was a 55+ park so we thought it could be nice but there were some challenges.

First, it was a very tight back in spot but thankfully the park Engineer, Tom, led us over in his golf cart and help us (er, Ron) out.

As you can see, it was a tight spot but what you can't see is that it was sandwiched between two permanent trailers.  So, it was essentially trailer sites that were for sale and until sold they were turned into a spot for an RV.  I'd say it was 80% full time/permanent residents and 20% short term tenants.  But since we knew spots were limited, we sucked it up and stayed.

The highlight of our stay in the Phoenix area was spending time with Brooke and Kole.  Brooke had just celebrated her 20th (did I say 20?) birthday so we were thrilled to see her and celebrate.  Of course, it involved a meal - Kole picked the spot as he's a "local".

Kole still sports his Tahoma gear!

We spent a few days running errands, getting some things we hadn't had a chance to get before we left Washington, and driving around the valley.  That is one BIG valley.  The weather was perfect - in the 80's each day!

After a few days we got together again with Brooke and Kole and went to our favorite restaurant, White Chocolate Grill in Scottsdale.

What a fun time we had!  Next year we'll be sure to order some wine (oops, we did) so we can share it with them.
