Tennessee - The Final Chapter

It was time to end our journey in Tennessee but before we left, there were a few things left to see.

We love to visit colleges and universities and, especially, the book store.  So we headed out to downtown Knoxville to visit the University of Tennessee.

As we drove around campus to find a parking spot (it can be difficult in a big truck). we noticed these little guys scurrying around delivering lunch.  It cracked me up that the kids just went about their business and paid no attention to them.

There was a dedicated parking area for them.

Another form of transportation.

Before we hit the book store, we visited the restroom.  After seeing the tire sink in Nashville, now I seem to notice the decor in restrooms.  This university loves their school colors!

And then we made it to the bookstore.

The next day, we took a drive to take in a few sights.

This was as close to Dollywood as we got.

We drove on to visit the largest knife shop in the world, Smoky Mountain Knife Works.  You can't tell from this picture but the place was MOBBED!  I wondered if there was some special event going on so asked one of the associates if it was always that crowded.  She looked amused as she told me that it was actually sort of quiet that day.

I couldn't believe the inventory they had and not just knives.  We were told that they have 100,000 knives for sale and another 100,000 knives on display!

These were interesting, especially since my dear friend lives in Sweden.

I've never watched Game of Thrones (apparently, though, I will be soon) but this seems to be a pretty popular throne.

From there we made a stop at an antique store that caught my eye.

Probably not that impressive to anyone but my mother's maiden name was Martin.  And now you will all be able to steal my identify since you know my mother's maiden name.

They had a ton of consignment booths.  We wandered around for a few minutes and that was it.

So, what did we learn in Eastern Tennessee?  We learned that RV parks get very busy on weekends and then quiet down the middle of the week.  Which means weekends are much noisier than mid week.  The people parked across from us had two spots so two couples who sat outside in the evening and laughed.  They also played corn hole incessantly - has anyone ever thought about how noisy it is when that da*#ed sand bag hits the wood?  Get off my lawn!!!!

  1. So I take it you won't be building a house next door to those people any time soon?

  2. They would just find something else to play probably even more irritating.
