On the road to Florida

After 2 1/2 weeks in Tennessee, it was time to move on.  Since we'd heard that getting park reservations over holidays can be tough and we were finding that to be true for Memorial Day, we decided to find a park in Florida and stay for a month over the holiday.  So we planned a couple of stops along the way from the Knoxville area to Central Florida.

The first night was at a KOA in Georgia - it wasn't great but it fit the bill for an overnight stop since it was right - and I mean right - on the interstate.  Certainly convenient but also lots of highway noise.

We took off the next morning and continued south.  It was a short day so we had a chance to make a stop along the way.

It would have been a difficult stop if they hadn't had special parking spots for RVs - pretty smart!

We enjoyed our stop at Pistachio World (so many weeks ago) and were hopeful this would be another fun stop.

What a selection they had and not just pecan items - salad dressing, jams, marinades - the possibilities were endless.

Okay, I will admit we bought just a few things.

Back in the truck for the rest of the journey before we pulled into Lake Park, Georgia.

We didn't see any eagles (roosting or otherwise) except for this guy guarding the sign.  Don't bother zooming in - it's fake.

The trees were lovely and made for a nice, shady stay.

Unfortunately, the Dish satellite doesn't do so well when it's under trees.  We made it work but glad it was only for one night!

  1. So cool to be able to decide how much time you want to spend in each state. A month in Florida sounds nice.
