Off we went to Amarillo which was our first ever trip to the Texas pan handle.
We were happy when we pulled in to a nice park not far off the freeway. While we've been pretty happy with every place we've parked, it's always a bit of a crap shoot when we don't know the area and have to rely on the reviews we see on line.
It was pretty close to an oasis.
It's spring!
We had reserved our specific space when we made the reservation and we were happy with our choice.
I had some laundry to do so was happy that we were only one spot away from the laundry room. But wait - it doubled as a tornado shelter. Yikes!
We had a few things to take care of and since this was a "big city", now was the time. Remember the wine catastrophe on the first day out? It's hard to tell but the only way to access the cabinets on each side of the couch was to use the little door and shove things to the back. It worked okay to get the wine bottles in, but not so great to get it out with all the broken glass.
So a trip to Home Depot was in order. And lucky for me, there was a nail salon right next door so I was able to get a much needed pedicure while Ron shopped!
And just like that, later that day he had the cabinet retrofitted so that the top was now on hinges making it much easier to get things in and out. But no more storing wine! Next time we're in a spot for an extended time, he'll mirror the other side.
The next day we set out to check something off of Ron's bucket list - cowboy boots! If you're gonna get boots, Texas is the place. We ventured into Cavender's and what a collection they had. He settled on these. Pretty fancy!
We went back out that evening for dinner. I actually put on something other than shorts and sandals! Ron, of course, wore his new boots.
Mmm, it was good even the next day.
And with that we were ready to leave another windy spot and move on to Kansas the next day. A bucket list item coming up for me.
Ron with boots sounds great. When in Texas....
